Steven Harris
During the 1990's I was an R&D Engineer for
Chrysler Corporation. What I called my "charity work" during
this time was working for the protection of the American Public from
disaster. All types, natural and man made and I worked closely with the wonderful
organization Doctors For Disaster Preparedness. It is through
this organization and my work with Jane Orient, Art Robinson, Cresson
Kearny, Edwin York, Sharon Packer, Paul Seyfried, Jim Phillips, Jon Hoyle
and many others that we evolved, tested and implemented a lot of what you
will hear on this site. I was deep into the Home Land
Security and Civil Defense field for about 10+ years but the above people are
the legends of the field who spent much of their life in the protection
of human life. I am a but a little person standing on the shoulders of
these giants. I tell you this in these simple lines not for
self promotion but because The knowledge I present here came from
some of the most intelligent people this country ever had and they spent
most of their entire professional life developing these methods to protect
you from things you've never heard about and hopefully will. The
skills I present are basic, simple, unforgettable and will serve you well in
the majority of disasters you will face in your life.

Shane Connor is the founder of

Steven (Steve) Aukstakalnis is President of AlertsUSA Inc., a
Miami, FL based firm providing one of the nation's most widely
used terrorism threat, warning and incident notification

Educated in Physics and CS, Steve is a former research scientist

adopted as a text in schools around the world. His written work
has served as background information and prep material for
formal hearings convened by the United States Senate and is
listed in the Congressional Record.
Steve has significant broadcast media experience and has
appeared as a guest on radio and television shows around the
world, including The Larry King Show, Next Step, PBS, National
Public Radio, BBC, as well as most major news networks including
CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS.
Steve has extensive overseas travel experience and has lived
abroad in both SE Asia and W. Africa.
Steve's other passions include blue water sailing, coastal
kayaking, Mandarin Chinese, jungle treks, close quarters combat
arts, contemporary glass blowing and reading his bible

The Survival Podcast is a daily online audio show about self
sufficiency and self reliance in the modern world. I conceived
and created this podcast because over the years I have come to
realize how fragile the human condition and the United States
economy really is.
From June 2008 – December 2009 I recorded the show during my 50
mile commute between Arlington and Frisco Texas. I now run the
show as my full time business and record it each morning in my
home office.
Some of the very early editions of this Podcast don’t have the
best audio quality but I over time I have updated my recording
equipment. Recording a podcast while driving on the interstate
was a challenge but I have found it both enjoyable and a way to
reclaim some of the three hours I loose each day. I decided to
give it a try after I found Think Future News a Libertarian
minded Podcast hosted by Chris Future (who just plain kicks ass)
who also records his show while on the road.
In January of 2010 I made The Survival Podcast a full time
endeavor and it is now listened to by more than 20,000 people a
day. |
